The TV Tax people... also known as the BBC... like to boast that when you are caught using a TV without a valid TV tax you will be fined £1000, but in reality as many of us know, that figure is far, far less; in many cases, less that the TV tax itself. I personally have not seen many instances in local newspapers of people being fined, but I did come across an article from This is S C U N T H O R P E October 2009 which listed some 30 or so people who had been fined from £125 to £200. See below, a list of the unfortunate victims who failed to tell the TVL lowlife to (coff), go away and allowed them into their homes only to be greeted by a fine:
