How does it work?
Whenever a TVL sighting is reported (see also Report a sighting > how does it work?) the TVL detector can, based upon criteria you set, send an email notification providing you with all sighting details. Effectively this is an early-warning mechanism to prepare you for a possible visit from TV licensing staff.
Sign up: the Form
Setting up and activating a notification is very easy. You can define up to 5 notification requests for a given email address.
Here is an example for setting up such a notification request:
Joe Blogs wants to receive an email notification whenever someone reports, and validates, a TVL sighting within 25 miles from his home postcode area. Joe lives in postal district E13 (Newham, London).
The criteria above can be entered on the form as follows:
First select 25 from the mileage drop down menu. Then select E13 from the postal district drop down menu.
Enter your email address and re-enter the code shown in red. The purpose of the code is to avert electronic spamming of the TVL detector application.
Click Register
Soon after registering you will receive an email, which includes a link to validate and automatically activate the notification request.[ Return ]

receiving emails
By default the TVL detector will only send you a notification email if the reported sighting matches your criteria and the date of the sighting is less than 10 days ago.
Notifications: management console
You can manage your notification requests by clicking the Notification manager link from the management console (main menu).
Please enter your email address and re-enter the code shown in red.
Click Go
You will receive an email listing all requests for notifications, if any, associated with the specified email address. The links in the email allows you to either validate invalidated notification requests or to delete validated/invalidated notification requests.
